Diagnostic Endoscopy
Endoscopy involves the use of a flexible scope, inserted through the mouth or the rectum, to examine the inside of your pet’s stomach or colon. The images produced in this examination us a clear view of any inflammation or ulceration occurring inside of vital organs. Our veterinarians are trained to locate and remove accidentally swallowed objects. We use precise biopsy instruments in conjunction with the scope, enabling the diagnoses of cancerous tumors or other gastrointestinal conditions.
Endoscopy must be performed with the animals under anesthesia. Endoscopy is a diagnostic, non- invasive tool used to evaluate cases of chronic vomiting, weight loss, and chronic diarrhea. It may also be used on an emergency basis for removal of gastric and esophageal foreign bodies and may be an alternative to surgery.
